Getting Started With Odyssey
Where and how do I start playing Odyssey?
After you've signed up through your school district or through a CleverParent™️ subscription, bookmark the My Training page (see the link at the top of the page or visit leadtheodyssey.com/library) and start there to login and start playing Odyssey.
Go to Before You Start Your Odyssey > Welcome Heroes and Guides! for an overview of the program and instructions on how to play. You'll need to complete the Safety Check for Guides before you can start playing with your Hero.
Once you pass the Safety Check, you and your Hero can work on any lesson you like. If you scroll down on the main Odyssey page, you can see all the different lessons with a brief description of what they are. For example, the first couple lessons you see are Kindness Keeper and Feeling Decoder. You can start with one of those or any of the other lessons.
When you click on a lesson, you'll be taken to the Basecamp level. Once you complete the Basecamp level, it takes you to Level 1. Once you complete Level 1, you can move on to Level 2. And so on and so forth.
You don't have to complete all levels in a lesson to start another lesson. For example you can do a few levels of Kindness Keeper, then do a few levels of Walkie Talkie, then go back to Kindness Keeper or start a different lesson.
Good luck on your journey!
Should we play Odyssey with a phone, tablet, or computer?
The choice is up to you! Odyssey works on a mobile phone, tablet, or computer. We like to use a mobile phone so we can so we can play Odyssey on the go, but feel free to use whatever is easiest for you!
How do I play Odyssey with multiple children?
Odyssey is designed for families to play together using the same account.
If you enrolled through your school, each of the students you signed up will earn points for all activities/levels completed under your family account. No need to toggle back and forth between kids, just play as a family or play separately with each child if you prefer. Just note that once a level is completed, all of your students will earn points for it.
I keep getting stuck when Levels are locked
When in doubt, scroll up! When you try to access a locked level and it takes you to the level you need to complete, sometimes it takes you to the bottom of the activity. Scroll up to see the questions.
If this doesn't solve your problem, send an email to [email protected] with a description of your problem and what you need help with.
What should I do if my child is too young to read or type on their own?
While most educational apps are designed for kids to play alone, Odyssey is designed for parents and kids to play together. Instead of being a standard lesson format, Odyssey is full of conversation-starters to prompt meaningful interactions between parents and children.
As your Hero's Guide, you should feel empowered to help little ones read the prompts in the app and translate it to their vocab level, using words or examples that make it truly meaningful for them. While the prompts are the same for lower vs upper elementary students, you get to personalize it so it's just right for your Hero.
I signed up through my school. How do we keep track of points we earn?
Each student will earn one point for each regular level completed. You earn bonus points for any level that has a symbol on it.
Every 2 weeks, Odyssey tallies up points and sends an email to students with the total number points earned. This email is only sent for students who have earned at least 1 point and have played Odyssey in the last month. So you won't get any point notifications if you haven't completed any levels yet or if it's been more than a month since you played.
